Think for a moment you are at the rental car agency, and they are asking you if you would like to buy the insurance. Going through your mind is I do not need that I have insurance; I do not need it. While this is partially true, if you were to be in an accident in a rental car, your insurance would pay to replace the vehicle if you have full coverage on one of your vehicles. However, your insurance does not cover the downtime that the rental car company can not use the rental vehicle. This means the car is in the body shop for a week being repaired, and the rental car company would charge you for that week as if you had the vehicle. This is why I recommend purchasing the loss of use coverage through the rental car company.
This is the second part of the Am I Covered Series. I am looking forward to the weeks to come of passing my knowledge along to you.
