Am I Covered? Week 1

Think for a moment you have water leaking into your basement during heavy rain, Are You Covered? In most cases, the answer is no. For insurance companies, water coming into your home, say from an egress window, is considered a flood. Now I hear you saying, but I have water-sewer backup coverage. Water backup only covers water damage resulting from a backed-up drain or sump pump. I recommend my clients to have a good wet dry vacuum in the case of water coming into their basement. The reason being most of the time, they can clean up themselves without having to bring in water restoration professionals.
